d.c. overnight

These days I don't travel for work much anymore, but Monday I took a last minute, overnight trip to Washington D.C. for depositions in nearby McLean, Virginia on Tuesday.  Honestly, I'd never given much thought to visiting Washington for sightseeing or vacation...I'm not much into history or politics.  But I have to admit it was cool to see at least a few of the iconic landmarks...the Capitol building, the Washington Monument, and a few others...even if it was just through the windows of my cab!  And a night alone in a cool downtown hotel (with an unsolicited and unexpected upgrade to a $700 a night suite at no extra charge!) with no interruptions, no alarm clock, and room service breakfast wasn't bad either.
