For the first time since he was an infant, Gage went to Bunco with me last night. Over the years, he has asked several times to go, but I've always told him that Bunco is "just for mommies"...he seemed to accept that explanation, until Beck came along and I took him with me to Bunco several months in a row. "But Beck isn't a mommy!" Gage was quick to point out. So when I found out that my friend Tina was bringing her three boys to Bunco this month, I decided it was probably a good opportunity to bring Gage along too. I told him a few days before that he would be going, and he was beside himself with excitement. Not a day went by that he didn't talk about it and ask me how much longer until Bunco. While we were getting ready to go on Wednesday evening, he asked "Mommy, what does Bunco look like?"
So Gage went to Bunco. He ate a little of the spaghetti dinner, and a lot of crackers, cheese, sausage, chocolate, jelly beans, and ice cream...he took half his car collection, which he abandoned to the Russell boys in favor of the toys in Norah's closet...he enjoyed playing with Fisher, Eli and Sullivan, even though he didn't always get their names right...he rolled the "mice" and actually got quite a few sixes...and he stayed up way past his bedtime.
His first words this morning were "When can I go back to Bunco?"
