heat and serve

Our microwave has been broken for almost a month. Now, for you real cooks out there it might not seem like a big deal to be without your microwave for a month...but for someone like me I can assure you that it IS a very big deal. I don't think my three year old was even aware that you could prepare an entire meal without a microwave...sad, but true. For the first couple of weeks we did pretty well...I think Scott saw it as a challenge and was cooking us dinner every night, and luckily Gage doesn't mind eating grilled cheese every day for lunch. But lately we have been resorting to eating at my mom's or picking up fast food.

The microwave stopped working 9 days after our warranty expired. So far we have had three service calls, which required one of us to be home all day since they reserve the right to show up anytime between 8am and 5pm (and once it was actually almost 7pm)...they have ordered three different parts...and three times they have failed to fix the problem. We have spent about $100 so far, but Scott has refused to pay for anything else since the initial "repair." We talked about buying a new microwave at first, and in retrospect I guess we should have, but the one we have is really nice (when it's working) and we figured it would be easier and less expensive to just have it fixed. Ha!

So today Scott is at home waiting, once again, for what will hopefully be the final service call. Mmmmm, I can almost taste the Lean Cuisine...

It's finally fixed!  I can once again serve my family pre-packaged frozen meals in just minutes!  Life is good.

I wondered about your dinner last night....so glad everything is back to microwaving-normal!
