forever ink

When I met my husband eight years ago, he had one small tattoo, but he has always talked about getting more.  According to people who have them, they're like potato chips...you can't have just one.  I had no objection to him getting more, but he never seemed sure about what he wanted or who he wanted to do it.  Over the years, he has considered lots of different designs, some I liked, and some...not so much.  So when he went about a month ago to meet with a tattoo artist recommended by a friend, and then announced that he had scheduled an appointment, I was a little surprised and a little nervous.  But I am pleased to say that I was very happy with his choices...
This one, on his left inner forearm, means "Beloved Sons"...

These three stars, on his right inner bicep, represent me and our two boys...

It may not be the most traditional way of expressing one's devotion to their family, but it means a lot to me that he chose the symbols of his love for me and our sons, over all other possibilities, to become a part of his identity and appearance forever.
