I must have used this line a million times growing up. And you know what they say about karma...well, let's just say she's not always your BFF. I never would have imagined that a three year old could even comprehend boredom, but "I'm bored" has become Gage's lament of late. Whoever heard of toddler ennui?
As a parent, I now understand why "I'm bored" is one of the most annoying things you can hear from your children. First of all, we spend so much of our time and most of our money trying to keep them entertained...buying toys, books, games, and movies and taking untold numbers of trips to the park, the zoo, and the toy store...and yet it never seems to be enough. As soon as there's a break in the action, "I'm bored" rears its ugly head. Not to mention that boredom itself is a luxury that we parents can no longer afford. Boredom is the privilege of the young and those with no responsibilities. I haven't even come close to boredom's door since the birth of my first son almost four years ago.
What I wouldn't give for just a few hours of "boredom."
