tough as nails

As a parent, have you ever noticed how much time you spend trimming fingernails and toenails?  They should just issue you a manicurist's license when you leave the hospital with your newborn.

It was semi-manageable with just one child, but now that there are ten more fingers and ten more toes to deal with, I feel like I spend an inordinate amount of time chasing my boys around with the nail clippers.  I imagine that those with more than two children just carry a set of clippers around in their pocket at all times so that they can snip whenever the opportunity presents itself.  It would be bad enough if the boys would sit still, but of course they hate it...they will squirm, twist or run in any direction to avoid the dreaded clippers.

But I'm not the type to just let it go...I'm convinced that if they grow just a few millimeters too long I'll have CPS at my door...surely untrimmed nails are the first sign of child neglect.

Apparently, I am the only adult in my household qualified to trim a child's nails.  Sure, Daddy has no problem shocking someone's heart with a defibrillator, but he's "uncomfortable" using the itty bitty nail clippers.  Go figure.

I'm thinking I may need to set up a schedule for nail trimming...a designated day and time each week for nail clipping.  I'll let you know so you can mark your calendars.

Yep, Mac is the clipper of all 30 toenails and 30 fingernails of the little guys at our house too. I can't do it. he tells them come on and takes them outside and wah-lah. They even know to go to him and tell him when it's "time"!!
