random things

Anyone with a Facebook page has undoubtedly seen the "25 Random Things" lists going around, or even filled out their own. There was actually an article in USA Today a couple of weeks ago about the proliferation of these lists on Facebook. I was "tagged" several times before I decided to create my own list, but once I started it was actually really fun...and challenging!...to try and come up with that many obscure or ramdom facts about myself. So, I decided to republish my list here, along with a little "bonus material" to keep it interesting for those who have already read my list on Facebook.

1. When I was born I weighed over 9 pounds and was 24 inches long. Ouch. (Sorry, Mom!)

2. I lived in Illinois until I was 13. When we moved to Texas I was convinced I would fail English because I couldn't understand anyone's accent. I swore I would never say "y'all." (Now it's one of my favorite words.)

3. I graduated third in my high school class.

4. After watching the movie Ice Castles about a million times, I spent the next year begging my parents to let me change my name to Alexis. Many tears were shed over their refusal. (When it became clear that I was not going to be Alexis/Lexie, I tried to get everyone to call me by my middle name, Elizabeth, but that plan was also a failure.)

5. I don't get brain freeze. Seriously, I've never had it.

6. I hate walking barefoot outside. I will walk on my tip toes or the outside edges of my feet to avoid putting my whole foot on the ground. (Gage does this, too!)

7. Growing up, I was obsessed with Brooke Shields. I still want her hair.

8. If I wasn't an attorney I would get a nose piercing.

9. I met my husband on a blind date. (We got engaged exactly one year later.)

10. I don't like eggs, pizza or pie.

11. As a teenager, I worked at Fuddrucker's for one day. I quit when I was offered a better paying summer job at State Farm where my parents worked.

12. I love to sing and dance. I'm a terrible singer, but a decent dancer.

13. I have a scar between the ring finger and little finger of my right hand from where I cut my hand on the bricks of my grandparents' porch.

14. I don't own a pair of Crocs. (But everyone else in my family has multiple pairs.)

15. Someday I would love to be on The Amazing Race with my husband.

16. When I was about 12, I got to go back stage and meet Rick Springfield at one of his concerts.

7. A few years ago I got a Tempur Pedic pillow and now I can't sleep without it. I would love to get one of the beds but I'm afraid I'd never get out of it. (Plus I can't afford it!)

18. I took four years of French classes in high school and spent the first year of college as a French major. (I seriously considered going to college at McGill University in Montreal...until I got a scholarship that was only good for U.S. schools.)

19. I love football. I will watch pretty much any football game on TV, regardless of who's playing or what the score is.

20. My iPod is full of raunchy hip hop music.

21. I LOVE having my hair brushed or just played with. I really, really love it.

22. Salted tomatoes are my all time favorite food. (Followed closely by donuts and french fries.)

23. When I was 9 I fell off my bike and broke my two front teeth.

24. I've never seen Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but I can recite almost every line from Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club.

25. I've never been to Europe.

BONUS RANDOM THINGS!

26. I love spicy food.  The hotter, the better.

27. I love taking long hot showers, but I hate baths.  My ideal bathroom wouldn't even have a bathtub.

28. I only like cinnamon flavored toothpaste and gum.  I almost cried when they took Close Up off the market, but luckily Crest came out with a cinnamon flavored toothpaste.

I enjoyed every word of this. You've inspired me to finish mine.

p.s. You'd still be gorgeous with a nose ring!
